We
were rained out, but a few faithful followers (or die-hard bikers)
came out to brave the weather, anyway. Although we didn't ride,
we did have a good time with the raffles and games. We even
have a few photos of the event.
Our
rain date is rescheduled for Oct 6, 2007. We hope to see you
there!
We
were honored to attend the Fourth International NBIA
Disorders Association Family Conference 2007, which was
held this year in Cincinnatti, OH.
We
met with staff, families, doctors and researchers all living
with or involved with NBIA. It was an amazing experience, especially
in meeting with the families and people living with NBIA. Not
only did we make many new friends, but because of the conference,
we were able to broaden our mission to include more supportive
services, such as offering a research library among other services.
We came back with many great ideas on how Hope's Hope can better
serve the NBIA community and we are eagerly implementing those
additions.
Patty
Wood, the president of NBIA Disorders Association, did an amazing
job of putting on the conference, along with many assistants.
It was a pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful and informative
event.
This
was our first poker run and we're thrilled with the results.
We had a great turnout with 29 bikes and nearly 50 people! We
raised over $800 for our charity.
We
began our ride at Ray Price Harley Davidson, then made stops
at Harris Lake County Park in Holly Springs, Ironhorse Saloon
in Apex, Mapleview Valley Farm Dairy in Carboro, and finally
ended at Triangle Church Recreation Pavillion in Chapel Hill
where we celebrated with a chili cookout and listened to music
by DJ, Seth Felder.

The Home Improvement
Work Party was a huge success. Several companies came out to help,
as well as many individuals and families. The weather was great
and nearly everything on the list has been completed, except some
siding repairs/painting/caulking. (We'll arrange to finish this
task another weekend).
In addition to being a very productive day, everyone seemed to enjoy
spending time together. It was truly a wonderful community effort.
Many of you may have seen the ABC11 6:00 news on Saturday evening,
airing this story. Reporter Darla Miles came out in the afternoon,
did a follow-up story on Hope and featured the work done for the
Johnston family. To see the original story go to
